Tate Mcrae Earns RIAA Gold for "2 Hands"

Canadian artist Tate Mcrae has earned a new certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). On Oktubre 6, 2025, her single "2 Hands" was certified Gold, signifying 500,000 certified units in the United States. The song was released by RCA Records on Nobyembre 14, 2024.

"2 Hands" is the second single from McRae's third studio album, So Close to What, which was released in 2025. The track is an electropop and R&B song featuring strong bass, synthesizers, and Middle Eastern beats, with lyrics about craving physical connection. McRae co-wrote the song with Ryan Tedder, Amy Allen, and Peter Rycroft; Tedder and Rycroft also handled production. In a press release, McRae stated the song "shows a different side of me," adding that it "captures the feeling of falling in love and how sometimes just being close to someone is all you really need." The song was first played for fans at a secret event in Sydney, Australia, on Nobyembre 12, 2024, ahead of its official release.

The certification continues a period of significant commercial success for the Calgary-born singer, songwriter, and dancer. McRae, who has amassed over 15.1 billion career streams, rose to prominence with her 5x Platinum 2020 single "you broke me first." Her sophomore album, THINK LATER (2023), debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart and included the 4x Platinum, global No. 1 hit "greedy." Her third album, So Close to What, became her first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. McRae's accolades include being named Artist of the Year at the 2024 and 2025 JUNO Awards and being the youngest musician on Forbes' 2021 30 Under 30 list.
