Victoria Monét was born on May 1, 1989, in Georgia, to her mother, L’Tanya Chestang-Cubit, and an unnamed father. Her parents divorced when she was young, leading her to be raised primarily by her mother and grandmother, Cassaundria Lovett, in Sacramento, California. L’Tanya worked three jobs to support her family, showcasing immense dedication and resilience to provide for Monét and her siblings​

From a young age, Monét displayed a keen interest in performing arts, singing in the church choir and participating in dance teams. Her early exposure to music and performance laid a strong foundation for her future career.

Monét's professional journey began in earnest when she moved to Los Angeles in 2009.
