Kiari Kendrell Cephus, known professionally as Offset, is an American rapper who was born on December 14, 1991, in Lawrenceville, Georgia1. He rose to prominence as part of the hip hop group Migos, alongside Quavo and Takeoff1.
Offset’s career began in 2002 when he was featured as a backup dancer in the video for “Whatchulookinat” by Whitney Houston1. He was only 11 years old at the time1. In 2008, Offset formed Migos with Quavo and Takeoff1. The three grew up together in Gwinnett County, a mostly suburban area near Atlanta2.
Migos initially gained recognition following the release of their 2013 single "Versace"1. In 2015, they released their debut studio album Yung Rich Nation1. Their single “Bad and Boujee” became an Internet phenomenon in 2017, with many critics believing Offset commanded the track1.
In addition to Migos, Offset has released solo music and collaborated with numerous artists1. In 2017, he released the collaborative album Without Warning, alongside 21 Savage and record producer Metro Boomin1. The album spawned the single “Ric Flair Drip”, which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart1.
In 2019, Offset released his debut solo studio album Father of 4. The album became his second album as a soloist to reach the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart1.
In October 2023, Offset released his second solo studio album titled “Set It Off” through Motown Records32. The album contains guest appearances from Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Future, Cardi B, Mango Foo, Latto, Young Nudy, and Chlöe34. The album serves as the follow-up to Offset’s previous album Father of 4 (2019), and is also his first project to not be released under Quality Control Music after ending his contract with the label due to its heads allegedly not giving him publishing rights for his music3.
The lead single of the album, “Jealousy”, a collaboration with Offset’s wife, Cardi B, was released on July 28, 20233. The second and final single before the album release was “Fan”, which was released on September 15, 20233. The third and final single from the album was “Worth It”, a collaboration with American rapper and singer Don Toliver. It was released on October 12, 2023, one day before the album was released3.
