Chloe Tang delves deep into her personal evolution with the highly anticipated release of her EP titled POISONALITY. Known for her introspective lyrics and melodic prowess, Tang's unique voice and narrative resonate with a diverse audience seeking music that speaks to the human experience, no matter how honest or unhinged. Each track on "POISONALITY" is a chapter chronicling the emotions and complexities of navigating life in Los Angeles.
In her own words, Chloe describes "POISONALITY" as a reflection of her growth and self-discovery: "POISONALITY is all about growing into my personality. The poison part refers to ‘poisoning’ or killing the parts of me that I had adopted from my surroundings but weren’t ever really part of me. I wrote all these songs at different points throughout my journey living in LA. They were written from real experiences I had or phases I went through. It was my first time in a city where it felt like there were no rules… I was trying drugs I’d never done before, exploring my sexuality, making new friends, and most importantly discovering my own values, boundaries, and true personality. Like most people, I grew up stuck in a status quo so when I finally got comfortable exploring life I had a field day."
The EP's production blends elements of alt r&b, pop, and even some metal guitars with a raw authenticity that underscores Tang's songwriting talent. From erotic lyrics to empowering themes, Chloe Tang invites listeners to join her on a journey of experiencing the defining phases of her twenties.
The project consists of 4 previously released singles, PRIMAL, 2.0, OPTIONS, and I SEE U, plus a feature track titled LSD- a dark, atmospheric r&b track about the depths of human connection. Diverse yet well rounded, “POISONALITY” further solidifies the place Chloe plants herself in as an emerging indie artist.
Writing music for more than half her life, Chloe Tang’s untapped potential was showcased when she opened a 4,000 cap room for pop superstar, Dua Lipa in 2018 in a venue she had worked security at just months prior. Since this full circle moment, Chloe has been writing and performing music in Los Angeles working independently with some of the biggest up and coming writers/producers like Johan Lenox (Travis Scott, 070Shake, RAYE), Shawn Wasabi (Warner Chappell), and Chizzy (Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Blxst). Between the emotionally-liberating anthems, and the sultry, often dark side of life as a creative; Chloe jokes her music says: “love me, but leave me alone”. With no label, Chloe’s catalog has amassed over 8 million streams organically, with plenty of music still on the way. She is also dedicated to advocacy for Asian-Americans, and routinely nods to her Chinese roots in her brand. Most recently, Chloe rolled out a new single titled “I SEE U” followed by a run of shows at SXSW in Austin with plans to play more shows throughout North America in 2024.
