Olivia Isabel Rodrigo, born on February 20, 2003, in Murrieta, California, is the only child of Jennifer, a school teacher, and Chris Rodrigo, a family therapist. She is of Filipino American descent, with her father being of Filipino origin and her mother having German and Irish ancestry. Rodrigo grew up in Temecula, California, and was born half-deaf in her left ear. She was exposed to alternative rock music from a young age, including bands like No Doubt, Pearl Jam, the White Stripes, and Green Day.

Rodrigo's acting career began with a role in an Old Navy commercial, followed by her acting debut in the direct-to-video film "An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success" in 2015. She gained prominence with her roles in Disney's "Bizaardvark" (2016–2019) and "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" (2019–2022). These roles not only highlighted her acting skills but also her musical talent.

Rodrigo signed with Geffen Records in 2020. Her debut single, "Drivers License," released in January 2021, broke various records and became one of the best-selling songs of 2021. She followed it with singles "Deja Vu" and "Good 4 U," leading to her debut studio album, "Sour," which won her three Grammy Awards. A Disney+ documentary, "Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U," was released in 2022, showcasing her creative process with "Sour."

In 2023, Rodrigo released her second studio album, "Guts," supported by singles "Vampire," "Bad Idea Right?," and "Get Him Back!" The album reflects her growth and experiences between the ages of 18 and 20. "Vampire" became her third single to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first artist ever to debut the lead singles from two career-opening albums at No. 1 on this prestigious chart. "Guts" has been hailed for its emotional honesty and showcases Rodrigo's evolving sophistication as a vocalist and lyricist.

Rodrigo's music is a blend of pop, pop rock, and indie, influenced by artists like Taylor Swift, Lorde, Alanis Morissette, Kacey Musgraves, Fiona Apple, St. Vincent, Cardi B, Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne, and Lana Del Rey. Her second album, "Guts," shows more punk and alternative rock influences.

Rodrigo has achieved three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, two Billboard 200 number-one albums, and five multi-Platinum certifications by the RIAA. She has won an American Music Award, seven Billboard Music Awards, and three MTV Video Music Awards. Time named her the 2021 Entertainer of the Year, and Billboard named her Woman of the Year in 2022.

Rodrigo is also known for her philanthropy and activism. She has been involved in various charitable initiatives, including selling merchandise and concert items for charity, promoting COVID-19 vaccinations among young people, and responding to social issues like the overruling of Roe v. Wade.
