The single "Rude" by Canadian band Magic! was certified 10x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on October 15, 2025. Released on RCA Records, the track has achieved 10,000,000 certified units in the United States. This milestone is equivalent to a Diamond certification, one of the highest honors awarded by the organization.
Originally released on July 30, 2013, "Rude" was the debut single for Magic! and the lead track from their first studio album, Don't Kill the Magic (2014). The song became a global commercial success, charting at No. 1 in several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. It reached the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart on July 14, 2014. The lyrics narrate the story of a man asking a father for his blessing to marry his daughter, only to be met with a rejection that the suitor labels as "rude." An official remix was later released featuring Kid Ink, Ty Dolla Sign, and Travis Barker.
Magic! is a Canadian reggae fusion band that formed in Toronto in 2012. The group consists of lead vocalist and producer Nasri Atweh, guitarist Mark Pellizzer, and bassist Ben Spivak. Known for a signature reggae-influenced pop sound, the band cites The Police and Bob Marley and the Wailers as major inspirations. Before forming the band, Atweh was part of the successful songwriting and production duo The Messengers. Following their debut, Magic! released two more studio albums, Primary Colours in 2016 and Expectations in 2018.
