On ‘Ace of Spades’, Shay adds: “Lemmy wrote two versions — one heavy, one bluesy. It shows how great a songwriter he was. We tried to honour that with our own spin.”
After releasing their debut LP Head of the United States in June 2024 — produced by Gary Powell at Blast Studios and The Albion Rooms — BEAR PARK spent the year touring with The Libertines and The Lightning Seeds, and playing major festivals across the UK. With GROWL, they wanted to hit reset, explore new ground and reflect on their next chapter.
“After the album and touring, we hadn’t had time to write new material,” the band explains. “So we jammed out songs by other people, ones that took us out of our comfort zone. Eventually, we thought — let’s record them. These tracks deserved to be heard. It’s a Bear Park take on some brilliant songs, and we’re calling it GROWL — because that’s what bears do to greet one another.”
GROWL will be released one track at a time across three months, with full EP out September 26. Expect loud guitars, sharp suits, killer hooks — and that unmistakable Bear Park bite.
