Billie Jo Jones To Compete In New Music Competition Show 'The Road,' Premiering This Fall
Country music singer-songwriter, Billie Jo Jones, has been announced as one of the contestants on the upcoming television show, The Road on CBS — a new music competition series following the journey of rising country artists that will premiere this fall. Showcasing the highs and lows of life on tour, The Road will air Sundays (9:00–10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, with streaming available live and on-demand via Paramount+. Each week, twelve up-and-coming performers will compete for the chance to open for Keith Urban at venues across the country. Urban is joined by executive producers Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan, “Tour Manager” Gretchen Wilson, as well as members of the live audience, who help decide who advances.

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios alongside Bosque Ranch Productions (Sheridan), Lucky Horseshoe Productions (Shelton and Metzger), 101 Studios (David Glasser), and Keith Urban, The Road gives viewers an unfiltered look into the of life on the road, along with the passion and determination it takes to make it in country music.
Jones is also shaking things up with her latest single, “Why You Gotta Be So Cowboy,” out tomorrow. Featuring razor-sharp lyrics like “Talk is cheap when your words are free, and cheap ain’t got nothing to do with me,” songwriters Len Snow and Aaron Weatherholt pulled no punches when crafting this powerful anthem. Premiered by Taste of Country, the track shows Billie Jo is turning up the heat and hitting the dance floor, just in time for summer.

Born in Dallas, Texas, this proud native was destined for stardom from a very early age. Billie Jo shares, “I was putting on private concerts for my grandparents in their living room when I was just 4 or 5 years old. They would sit, watch me for hours, and clap for me after every song. I performed everything from Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks to Patsy Cline, Ray Price, and Loretta Lynn. I’ve always loved old country.”
Her single, "Right Now Kinda Girl," topped the Texas Regional Radio Chart and was followed up with her debut full-length album, Some Girls Don’t Cry, featuring the title track of the same name. Keeping up with the momentum, Jones' “Whose Tequila Are You Drinkin'” reached the #1 spot on the CDX True Indie chart, earned her the title of Top Female Indie Artist on Music Row’s Breakout Radio Chart, and received a #1 plaque for her single “Who’s Tequila Are You Drinking,” which topped Amazon Music’s Top Country Songs.
Never one to slow down, Billie Jo Jones continues to make strides in country radio, and is excited to be back in the studio with famed producer Kent Wells (Dolly Parton), recording new music for her upcoming album out later this year.
