Luke Combs's cover of the Tracy Chapman classic "Fast Car" has been certified 8x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The certification, dated 6 tháng 10, 2025, signifies 8,000,000 certified units sold in the United States. The single was released on 24 tháng 3, 2023, via Columbia Nashville and River House Artists as part of Combs's album Gettin' Old.

The original "Fast Car" was written and recorded by Tracy Chapman for her 1988 self-titled debut album. Released as her debut single on 6 tháng 4, 1988, the song became a top-ten hit, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and earned Chapman a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Combs, who has cited the song as a favorite from his childhood, released his country rendition to widespread commercial success. His version topped Billboard's Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts in 2023 and reached number two on the Hot 100. The cover's success led to Chapman winning the Country Music Association Award for Song of the Year, making her the first Black person to win the award. In February 2024, Combs and Chapman performed the song together at the Grammy Awards.

Luke Albert Combs, born 2 tháng 3, 1990, is an American country singer from North Carolina. After leaving college to focus on music, he moved to Nashville and independently released his first EP, The Way She Rides, in 2014. His major-label debut album, This One's for You (2017), reached number four on the Billboard 200, and its 2019 follow-up, What You See Is What You Get, topped the charts in multiple territories. A decorated artist, Combs has received multiple honors, including the Country Music Association's highest award, Entertainer of the Year, in both 2021 and 2022.
