The Neighbourhood's 2020 single "Stargazing" has officially achieved Platinum status, as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The certification, dated October 30, 2025, recognizes 1,000,000 certified units in the United States. The track was released by Columbia Records.
Released on December 11, 2020, "Stargazing" is the opening track on Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones (Deluxe), the expanded version of the band's fourth studio album. The song is built on what has been described as an energetic and thumping indie instrumental, with lyrics where vocalist Jesse Rutherford reflects on his personal life and musical career. A music video for the track followed on December 14, 2020, and included cameos from notable figures such as Lana Del Rey, Jaden Smith, Alexa Demie, Mac DeMarco, and Blake Griffin.

The Neighbourhood formed in Newbury Park, California, in 2011, consisting of vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margott, and drummer Brandon Fried. The alternative rock group signed with Columbia Records and rose to prominence with their 2013 debut album, I Love You. That album produced their signature hit, "Sweater Weather," which became their sole entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 14, and experienced a significant resurgence in popularity years later. The band's catalog also includes other well-known tracks such as "Afraid," "Daddy Issues," "Softcore," "You Get Me So High," "Reflections," and "The Beach."
