Ciutat Back to Club Roots With 'Fidget Spinner' EP on Primavera Sound!

The EP's focus track 'I Want To Stay' sees CIUTAT team up with MYD, the acclaimed producer from Ed Banger Records - home to electronic titans Justice, SebAstian, and Breakbot. The collaboration represents a full-circle moment for the Barcelona collective, who have long drawn inspiration from the iconic French label's early 2000s Paris club scene.
"For us, the Fidget Spinner EP is like the fidget spinner itself: an object that might seem useless at first, but takes you straight to a very specific moment and sound," explains CIUTAT. "The two original tracks on the EP are a tribute to fidget house and that electronic revival influenced by Kitsuné, Ed Banger Records, and the whole Paris club scene.”

"'I Want to Stay' is a track that for many friends represents the beginning of the Mainline scene in Barcelona," the duo reflects. "The song is about the feeling that, when something becomes a song, it never really ends. This I Want to Stay is like wanting to stay there forever.”

Rounding out the release, remixes from Yung Prado and Feb28 - both integral members of the Barcelona electronic family - add fresh perspectives to the nostalgic club anthems, completing what CIUTAT describes as their most personal project yet.
CIUTAT (meaning "city" in Catalan) is the collaborative project of JP Sunshine and Guim, two pivotal members of Barcelona's influential Mainline collective. The duo emerged as a vehicle for exploring their pop-oriented instincts while weaving in elements of house, jazz, and nuevo flamenco - a distinctive fusion that has established them as one of Barcelona's most beloved electronic acts.
Their previous releases include the critically acclaimed albums Ciutat l'Amistat (Primavera Labels, 2024) and Brandon(Primavera Labels, 2023), which showcased their ability to blend Barcelona's vibrant cultural landscape with contemporary electronic production.
