Sofia and The Antoinettes has released her debitē EP, Women Who Love Too Much, a six-track collection of songs inspired by Robin Norwood’s 1985 book of the same name. The 23-year-old East London-based artist explores themes of love, loss, and identity through poetic lyrics and haunting melodies.

The EP’s lead single, “Revolver,” was co-written in Los Angeles with Marshall Vore and John Hill. “It started off about the sinking feeling you get when you’re telling someone your dream but you know they aren’t listening and then turned into a metaphor about life, dreams, and having all the time in the world for someone that barely gives you an afternoon,” Sofia said of the track. The single is accompanied by a music video directed by contemporary artist Joan Horrach, which features a sign language performance of the lyrics in a reference to choreographer Pina Bausch’s work ‘Nelken’.

Women Who Love Too Much also includes the previously released singles “Spiralling” and “Overwhelming Fear,” as well as “Introspection,” which was co-written and produced by Grammy-winning producer Rob Bisel. Influenced by artists like Lana Del Rey, Joni Mitchell, and Leonard Cohen, Sofia has received early support from BBC Radio 1 and Wonderland.

Following a residency at Bar Doña in Stoke Newington, Sofia and The Antoinettes is scheduled to support Lola Young on a UK tour, with a performance at Brixton Academy on Oct. 15.
