Released under Quality Control Music and Motown Records, this marks the first RIAA award for the song. The digital single was part of the rapper's acclaimed debitē solo album.

Released on 2019. gada 22. februāris, "Lick" appeared on Offset's debitē studio album, FATHER OF 4. The song's title is slang for an easy way to make money, and its lyrics explore the artist's rise from poverty to wealth. The album itself was a significant milestone, making Offset the third and final member of the hip-hop trio Migos to release a solo project. Born Kiari Kendrell Cephus in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Offset rose to international fame as a member of the influential trap group Migos, which formed in 2010. Known for his distinctive speedy, triplet-based rhyme schemes, he contributed to the group's breakthrough with the 2013 hit "Versace" and their chart-topping albums Culture and Culture II. As a solo artist, he has achieved significant success, including the 2017 collaborative album Without Warning with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, which featured the triple-platīna single "Ric Flair Drip."
