> Katie Mosehauer’s Water Remembers I: The Current Carries pairs Liszt’s classical piano music with an original composition. The first installment of a four-part audiovisual series, it explores memory, collective action, and the fragility of progress.
---
Violinist and interdisciplinary artist Katie Mosehauer pairs Liszt with an original response in The Current Carries, the opening release in her four-part audiovisual series Water Remembers.
*Palm Springs, CA, 2026-10-21*
What does progress sound like when it can be undone? With *Water Remembers I: The Current Carries*, violinist, composer, and producer Katie Mosehauer explores this question through a musical conversation between Franz Liszt’s *Consolations, S. 172: No. 3 in D-flat Major* and her original composition, “Converging Tides (after Liszt).” The first installment of a four-volume audiovisual project, the release brings together violin, harp, orchestral strings, and electronic sound design to consider collective action, impermanence, and what we choose to carry forward.
“Working in criminal justice reform taught me how fragile progress can be. From a distance, change can look inevitable, but up close, you see how much depends on people continuing to show up, even when the outcome is uncertain. That tension is at the heart of *The Current Carries*,” says Mosehauer.
A violinist with a background spanning classical performance, independent music production, and more than a decade of criminal justice reform and social justice advocacy, Mosehauer approaches classical repertoire not as something fixed in the past, but as a living language capable of taking on new meaning. Across *Water Remembers*, she pairs four canonical works with original compositions built from their musical foundations, creating dialogues between past and present. Each two-track volume is accompanied by a film that extends its musical and thematic questions into the visual world.
For *The Current Carries*, Mosehauer reimagines Liszt’s lyrical piano composition as an arrangement for violin and harp. In “Converging Tides,” she layers additional violins, violas, synthesizers, and sound design into an original work that draws on Liszt’s musical language while moving in a new direction.
“I’m interested in what happens when you let a piece of music keep changing. Rather than treating a classical work as something fixed in the past, I approach it as a starting point for a new conversation. With ‘Converging Tides,’ I wanted to stay connected to what moved me in Liszt’s music while allowing new sounds, textures, and ideas to emerge. Their differences are part of what makes the conversation meaningful,” Mosehauer explains.
The accompanying film mirrors the music’s exploration of collective change through gestures that repeat, falter, and begin again. No single movement transforms the landscape, but each becomes part of what comes next—a reflection of Mosehauer’s belief that progress is not inevitable, but something people build and rebuild together.

*Katie Mosehauer. Photo: Ryan J. Salva.*
The three subsequent volumes of *Water Remembers* explore faltering expectations, the disappearance of familiar realities, and the relationship between beauty and violence in the contemporary world. Together, the series brings Mosehauer’s musical and political perspectives into conversation, inviting listeners to reconsider familiar works and reflect on how time changes what we remember, what we value, and what we carry forward.

> Savannah-born Dean Martin tribute artist Andy Jennings releases his original swing-inspired single “A Drink with Dino” on November 6, 2026, followed by his 13-track debut album November 13. The project celebrates Dean Martin’s legacy for a new generation.

*The Savannah-born vocalist brings the warmth of classic crooner music into a new recording project, with a November 6 single and November 13 album.*
[Pre-save / Pre-order “A Drink with Dino”](https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/andyjennings/a-drink-with-dino)
*Savannah, GA, 2026-10-16*
Traditional pop vocalist and Dean Martin tribute performer Andy Jennings, known onstage as AJ Sings Dino, will release his first original single, “A Drink with Dino,” on November 6, 2026. His 13-track debut album of the same name follows November 13, pairing the new song with interpretations of classics associated with the crooner era.
The upbeat, swing-inspired single is a musical toast to Dean Martin: his unmistakable style, the memories attached to his songs, and an entertainment tradition that continues to find new listeners. For Jennings, the project represents a shift from performing beloved standards to contributing an original song of his own.
> “I’ve dedicated my work to keeping this style of music alive,” Jennings said. “I perform a Dean Martin tribute show, but I also wanted to contribute something new to the Great American Songbook tradition. A Drink with Dino is my original toast to Dean Martin and that era.”
The idea began not with a melody but with an album title. Jennings chose “A Drink with Dino” for a collection honoring Martin; the phrase soon inspired lyrics and a song celebrating the singer’s legacy, the Rat Pack era, and the enduring appeal of American traditional pop.
**Admiration, Not Imitation**
Jennings’ approach is rooted in appreciation rather than impersonation. His performances emphasize relaxed delivery, strong vocals, and the spirit of the music without trying to reproduce Martin’s voice or persona. That same philosophy guides the original single.
Jennings wrote the song’s lyrics and developed its backing music using AI-assisted creative tools, then recorded his own lead vocals at Suntone Recording Studio in Savannah, Georgia. Jennings and studio owner Adam Wyatt collaborated on production, with Wyatt handling mastering. The recording is an original tribute, not a recreated Dean Martin performance.
> “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Andy over the past 18 months,” Wyatt said. “He has been a focused and dedicated artist, and has made tremendous progress. This album has been a fun project.”
**A Lifelong Connection to the Music**
Jennings’ fascination with Dean Martin began in childhood, when he stayed up late to watch the entertainer on television and immersed himself in his recordings. Years later, he began performing Martin’s repertoire at festivals, restaurants, private events and community venues. Recording the new album in his hometown of Savannah brings that decades-long connection full circle.
The album introduces Jennings’ recorded work to streaming audiences after extensive studio sessions and live performances. Its release also reflects his larger goal: helping preserve the warmth, humor and musical craftsmanship of the classic crooner era while inviting a new generation to discover it.
> “Dean’s music has brought me joy for as long as I can remember,” Jennings said. “The hope is to preserve some of what made that music so special, but also to introduce it to people who may not have grown up with it.”
“A Drink with Dino” arrives on major digital music platforms November 6, followed by the full album November 13, 2026. An accompanying music video is planned for release during launch week.

> The Filthy Heathens much anticipated debut album released September 29th. Recorded amidst a packed tour schedule, "Hard Miles" is a Rock & Roll record made in the trenches of Rock & Roll.

"Hard Miles" is out now on all streaming platforms.\

*Greenville, SC, 2026-10-13*
The Filthy Heathens are a hard-hitting rock band built on grit, sweat, and hard work. Blending southern rock, outlaw country, metal, and hard-driving Americana, they’ve carved out a sound that’s loud, raw, and unapologetically their own. Known for leaving everything on the stage, The Filthy Heathens have earned a reputation for rowdy, high-energy shows and a relentless work ethic that’s built a fast-growing fanbase across the country.
Their debut EP, Etheridge, put the band on the map in 2025 with “Tupelo Sun” and “Devils Like Me.” They followed it with The Muscle Shoals Session in February 2026, recorded live at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. From that EP, “Diamonds in the Rough” went on to surpass 3.5 million streams across platforms, pushing the band’s momentum even further.
In April 2026, The Filthy Heathens headed to Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas to make their debut album "Hard Miles". The record captures a band that’s spent years earning its scars on the road—louder, tighter, heavier, and more confident than ever.
This album isn’t about where The Filthy Heathens started. It’s about what it took to get here—the miles, the stages, the long nights, and everything learned the hard way. No shortcuts. Just a road-tested band making the kind of rock and roll they believe in.
Recorded amidst a packed tour schedule, "Hard Miles" is a Rock & Roll record made in the trenches of Rock & Roll. Ten songs written by this band. Rhythms and riffs made up at sound check. Lyrics written and re-written over bumpy Indiana highways. Hooks made up in green rooms. Wound tight from the road. A sweat stained symphony.
Released September 29th, "Hard Miles" is the group's first full length album. Completed at the same spot that has inspired albums from Whiskey Myers, Whitey Morgan, Cody Jinks, and Turnpike Troubadours (among others).
This record has been created and distributed without the involvement of a record label.
It is their music. Their rules.

> Frank Fletcher releases “Relentless,” a powerful new rock single about perseverance and overcoming obstacles. Featuring cinematic orchestration and hard-hitting guitars, the track follows his Top 10 rock radio success.
---
The new rock single is available now on all major streaming platforms.
*Nashville, TN, 2026-10-13*
Frank Fletcher continues a strong run of new music with his latest single, “Relentless,” delivering the grit, intensity and Southern edge that have become signatures of his sound.
The release follows “Under My Skin,” which reached #10 on the Secondary Market Rock chart, adding another milestone to Fletcher’s growing momentum.
For Fletcher, the title “Relentless” feels particularly fitting. Songwriter and producer Blair Daly, who has collaborated with Fletcher on his recent releases, says the word describes more than the song - it describes the artist himself.
> “If I had to describe Frank’s drive and work ethic in one word, ‘relentless’ comes pretty close. I watch him overcome one obstacle after another, and he does it with a smile on his face and comes back stronger every time. That’s why I believe Frank is gonna succeed and win.” — Blair Daly
That same determination sits at the heart of “Relentless.” The new track brings something different to Fletcher’s recent run of releases, pairing heavy guitar tones with a full orchestral backdrop designed to give the song a cinematic, larger-than-life feel.
> “This song brings a little something different than my first two singles. ‘Relentless’ is about the battle within yourself to keep striving and keep going, no matter what obstacles are in your way. I haven’t lived a very easy life, but I’ve managed to always keep pushing myself toward my goals.\
> With that, Blair Daly and I wanted to give this song an epic feeling - like going on a quest. Along with the meaningful lyrics and heavy guitar tones, we put a full orchestra in the background to bring that feeling to life. This isn’t just a song; it’s a journey.” — Frank Fletcher
Raised on the dirt roads of southern Alabama and now based in Florida, Fletcher has built his career through years of touring, recording and an unwavering work ethic. His music is shaped by lived-in storytelling and an artist who has spent years earning his audience one show at a time.
Following the radio success of “Trouble With You” and “Under My Skin,” “Relentless” carries Fletcher’s momentum forward while revealing another dimension of his sound.
With its sweeping orchestral arrangement and message rooted in perseverance, “Relentless” turns Fletcher’s own experiences into something bigger - an anthem for anyone who has had to keep moving forward when quitting would have been easier.
“Relentless” is available now on all major digital streaming platforms via Asylum 1212 Records / Virgin Music Group.

> Dr. Dana Ataya, a Palestinian-American physician and singer- songwriter, releases “Survivor.” Its official video is out now, and her album One Day arrives October 16.
---
*A practicing Palestinian-American breast radiologist and soul-stirring singer-songwriter releases her new single “Survivor”; the video premiered October 9th, and her album One Day lands October 16th on Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music.*
*Tampa, FL, 2026-10-13*
Some artists chase the spotlight. Others carry something into the room that no one else can. [Dr. Dana](https://www.drdanarocks.com/), a practicing, board-certified radiologist and singer-songwriter, belongs to the second group, and she is stepping onto the national stage as one of the most distinctive new voices in music today.
On October 2, she released her single “[Survivor](https://open.spotify.com/track/3tmcmyY6pU2jyHtmxlGUNb),” an anthem of endurance and the courage to keep moving forward. The [official music video](https://youtu.be/DvF7WFQD1y4?si=flVXm5-gP4Rtt8WR) premiered October 9, and her album *One Day* arrives October 16. Following her debut, [*The Space Between*](https://open.spotify.com/album/5FX86jT0qEEMkR1n3Dt9XD?si=tlrWfOU_QKK7zgu5VGlApQ), *One Day* expands the conversation about perseverance, hope, and humanity.
Blending soul, folk, jazz and rock, Dr. Dana writes from places most artists never see: clinic corridors, patient stories and midnight songwriting sessions. The result bridges science and art, giving listeners a mirror to their own struggles and triumphs.
**Two Careers, One Purpose**
Dr. Dana did not leave medicine to make music, and she did not give up music to practice medicine. She does both. In the exam room and the reading room, she listens to people at their most vulnerable; on stage and in the studio, she turns what she hears into melody and lyric. Medicine taught her to listen. Music gave her a way to say what needs saying.
Together, a clinician’s perspective and an artist’s voice work toward one goal: healing. It is a combination the music world has seldom seen, and it gives her songs an authority and sincerity that cannot be manufactured. Her mission: *“To heal through melody and lyric, one story at a time.”*
**A Palestinian-American Voice**
As a Palestinian-American woman in medicine and music, Dr. Dana brings a perspective shaped by heritage, resilience and a deep love for humanity. “[1948](https://open.spotify.com/track/64DkF4gjzKJVIQmjjlvNMP?si=a1de6c2a54784bc3),” from *One Day*, carries a title that points to a defining year in Palestinian history. She is also a member of Doctors Against Genocide, an extension of the same love for humanity that guides her work in medicine and music. A portion of the proceeds from “Survivor” will go to [Heal Palestine](https://www.healpalestine.org/), turning the song’s message of endurance into direct support for healing.

Biography
## Biography
### Early Life and Musical Foundations
Christopher George Latore Wallace was born on May 21, 1972, at Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of Jamaican immigrants Voletta Wallace, a preschool teacher, and Selwyn George Latore, a welder. His father left the family when Wallace was three, leaving his mother to work two jobs while raising him in the Clinton Hill neighborhood, near the border of Bedford-Stuyvesant. Wallace attended Roman Catholic schools through elementary grades, excelling in English, before transferring to George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School — a public school also attended by future rap stars Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes. By his teens, the crack epidemic had transformed his neighborhood; Wallace began dealing drugs at age twelve and dropped out of school at sixteen. Arrests for weapons possession in 1989 and crack-cocaine distribution in North Carolina in 1991 — the latter resulting in a nine-month jail term — interrupted his adolescence. Throughout this period, Wallace absorbed the sounds of soul and R&B legends such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Teddy Pendergrass, as well as early hip-hop from Run-DMC and LL Cool J, and Jamaican music during family visits to the island. He began rapping under the name MC CWest, later adopting "Biggie Smalls" from a character in the 1975 film Let's Do It Again.
### Discovery and Debut Album
Following his release from jail in 1991, Wallace recorded a demo titled Microphone Murderer with local DJ 50 Grand. The tape reached Mister Cee, a prominent DJ known for his work with Big Daddy Kane, who forwarded it to The Source editor Matteo "Matty C" Capoluongo. Wallace appeared in the magazine's "Unsigned Hype" column in March 1992, catching the ear of Sean Combs, then an A&R executive at Uptown Records. Combs signed Wallace and featured him on remixes for Mary J. Blige's "Real Love" and "What's the 411?" In July 1993, Combs was fired from Uptown and founded Bad Boy Records, taking Wallace with him. Wallace's first solo single, "Party and Bullshit," appeared on the Who's the Man? soundtrack in 1993. Recording sessions for his debut album began in late 1992 and continued at the Hit Factory through 1994. Combs secured a $1.5 million joint venture with Arista Records' Clive Davis, providing full creative control and funds to repurchase Wallace's master recordings from Uptown. Ready to Die was released on September 13, 1994, led by the singles "Juicy" and "Big Poppa." The album peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200, sold 57,000 copies in its first week, and was eventually certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. Its success single-handedly shifted industry attention back to New York's hip-hop scene.
### Commercial Peak and the Coastal Feud
In August 1994, Wallace married R&B singer Faith Evans, whom he had met at a promotional photoshoot. By 1995, he was the top-selling male solo artist across both pop and R&B charts. Junior M.A.F.I.A. — a collective of childhood friends including Lil' Kim and Lil' Cease — released their debut Conspiracy in August 1995, earning gold certification. At the Source Awards that month, Wallace won Best New Artist (Solo), Lyricist of the Year, and Live Performer of the Year, while Ready to Die was named Album of the Year. The Billboard Music Awards honored him as Rap Artist of the Year and awarded "One More Chance/Stay with Me (Remix)" Rap Single of the Year. Wallace also appeared on the cover of The Source under the headline "The King of New York Takes Over," referencing his Frank White alias from the film King of New York. Meanwhile, his friendship with Tupac Shakur had deteriorated into a bitter public feud after Shakur was shot in a 1994 robbery at Quad Studios in Manhattan. Shakur accused Wallace and Combs of foreknowledge; they denied involvement. After Shakur's release from prison, he signed with Death Row Records, turning the personal conflict into a label rivalry between Bad Boy and Death Row that the media framed as an East Coast–West Coast war.
### Final Months and Posthumous Legacy
Throughout 1996, Wallace faced mounting legal troubles, including arrests for drug and weapons possession and a lawsuit over an alleged assault. Shakur was murdered in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting on September 7, 1996; speculation about Wallace's possible involvement persisted despite denials and a 2012 confession by convicted felon Dexter Isaac claiming responsibility for the 1994 Quad Studios robbery. Wallace traveled to Los Angeles in February 1997 to promote his forthcoming second album and film a video for "Hypnotize." On March 9, 1997, after leaving a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum, he was shot four times in a drive-by shooting while seated in an SUV. He was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at age 24. The murder remains unsolved. Life After Death was released on March 25, 1997, as a double album. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 — a rare posthumous achievement — and produced the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Hypnotize" and "Mo Money Mo Problems" (featuring Mase and Puff Daddy). The album received diamond certification in 2000, denoting over ten million units shipped. Three further posthumous albums followed: Born Again (1999), Duets: The Final Chapter (2005), and The King & I (2017, with Faith Evans). Wallace's certified U.S. sales exceed 28 million units.
### Artistry and Influence
Wallace's vocal delivery was characterized by a deep, mellifluous baritone and a relaxed, behind-the-beat cadence that contrasted with the often grim subject matter of his lyrics. He employed multisyllabic rhyme schemes, internal rhymes, and a conversational storytelling mode that drew from the improvisational tradition of jazz and the narrative detail of crime fiction. His lyrics balanced autobiographical accounts of drug dealing, incarceration, and violence with bravado, humor, and celebrations of material success. Critics and peers consistently cite his technical precision: Rolling Stone called him the "greatest rapper that ever lived" in 1997; Billboard named him the greatest rapper of all time in 2015; The Source awarded the same distinction in its 150th issue; and MTV ranked him third on its 2006 Greatest MCs list, describing him as possibly "the most skillful ever on the mic." His influence extends across generations of rappers, from Jay-Z and Nas to Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, and his two lifetime albums remain benchmark texts in hip-hop historiography.
### Posthumous Honors and Cultural Preservation
Wallace's cultural standing has grown steadily since his death. In 2020, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Performer category, becoming the first solo male rapper to enter the Hall in his first year of eligibility; the induction was presented by Sean Combs. In April 2024, the Library of Congress added Ready to Die to the National Recording Registry, selecting it as one of 25 recordings deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" to the nation's recorded sound heritage. The Registry noted that Ready to Die was both Wallace's debut and the only album released during his lifetime, and called it a "landmark of rap and hip-hop." A Brooklyn street was co-named Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace Way in 2019, and murals of the artist appear throughout the borough. Documentaries, biopics (Notorious, 2009), and scholarly works continue to examine his life, his unsolved murder, and his place in the broader arc of American music.

Biography
## Sayeed Quadri: The Poet of Longing in Hindi Cinema
### Early Life and Struggle
Sayeed Quadri was born on 3 October 1960 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, into a family with literary inclinations. He began writing poetry as early as eighth grade, drawn to the expressive possibilities of Urdu and Hindi verse. In 1986, armed with ambition but few connections, he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career as a Bollywood lyricist. The industry proved impenetrable; after nearly seven years without a breakthrough, he returned to Jodhpur and worked as a Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) agent for a decade, writing poetry privately while supporting his family. This period of professional displacement later informed the themes of waiting, emptiness, and eventual return that permeate his film songs.
Quadri's second attempt at Mumbai came in the early 2000s, when filmmaker Pooja Bhatt offered him Jism (2003) after hearing his work. The film's soundtrack, composed by M. M. Keeravani, featured Quadri's "Awarapan Banjarapan" — a song whose title would later name both his poetry collection and the 2007 film Awarapan. The track's success announced a lyricist who could merge classical poetic forms with the rhythmic demands of commercial Hindi film music.
### The Vishesh Films Era and the Emraan Hashmi Collaborations
Following Jism, Quadri became a fixture at Vishesh Films, the production house run by Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt. He wrote for Saaya and Paap (both 2003) before Murder (2004) became a cultural phenomenon. The film's four songs — "Bheege Honth Tere," "Kaho Na Kaho," "Zindagi Iss Tarah," and "Jaana Tere Mein" — dominated radio and early digital charts for months. "Bheege Honth Tere," sung by Kunal Ganjawala to Anu Malik's composition, won Quadri the IIFA Award for Best Lyrics in 2005 and the Stardust Award for Best Lyrics the same year.
The Murder soundtrack established a template: Quadri's lyrics, often set to Pritam's or Mithoon's compositions and sung by KK or Kunal Ganjawala, picturised on Emraan Hashmi. This constellation of collaborators — Quadri, Hashmi, Pritam, Mithoon, KK — produced a run of hits through Gangster (2006: "Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai," "Ya Ali"), Awarapan (2007: "Tera Mera Rishta," "To Phir Aao," "Maula Mere Maula"), Jannat (2008: "Zara Sa," "Door Na Ja"), Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009), and Murder 2 (2011). Quadri has described Hashmi's on-screen persona — the restless, morally ambiguous anti-hero — as mirroring his own struggles during his years away from the film industry.
### Range Beyond the Bhatt Camp
While the Vishesh Films partnership defined his most prolific period, Quadri worked across the industry. He wrote all songs for The Train (2007) and Showbiz (2007), contributed to Life in a... Metro (2007) with "In Dino" and "Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si," and penned tracks for diverse films including Billu (2009), Tum Mile (2009), Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011), and the animated feature Delhi Safari (2012). His lyrics for Barfi! (2012), particularly "Ala Barfi" and "Phir Le Aaya Dil," showcased a playful, whimsical register distinct from his usual intensity, earning a Mirchi Music Awards nomination for Album of the Year.
In the 2010s, Quadri adapted to shifting musical trends without losing his poetic core. He wrote for the thriller Khamoshiyan (2015), the romantic drama Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015), the social comedy Ki & Ka (2016), and the action film Baaghi 2 (2018). The 2020s brought renewed visibility: the title track of Khuda Haafiz (2020), three songs in Anurag Basu's ensemble Ludo (2020) including the widely streamed "Hardum Humdum," and the complete soundtrack of Gadar 2 (2023) — six songs composed by Mithoon that became ubiquitous during the film's record-breaking theatrical run. His recent work includes Vanvaas (2024) and the upcoming Awarapan 2 and Ikka (both 2026).
### Poetry, Publication, and Personal Philosophy
Quadri's identity as a poet precedes and exceeds his film career. In 2018, he published Awarapan, a collection of nazms and ghazals written over decades. The launch, attended by Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, Mithoon, Jubin Nautiyal, Darshan Raval, and other industry figures, celebrated a body of work Quadri describes as "an expression of his Awargi or Awarapan" — terms denoting wandering, rootlessness, and spiritual restlessness. The poems explore themes of separation, divine longing, and the interior life of the migrant artist, reflecting his own trajectory from small-town Rajasthan to the film industry's margins and eventually its center.
In interviews, Quadri emphasizes honesty and emotional truth over technical cleverness. Speaking to Hindustan Times in 2026 about recreating his own songs for Awarapan 2, he said: "I never recreate what others create... for the first time, I am working on a song I wrote. That's why I did it. And besides, this film is actually very close to me, very connected to my life." He has acknowledged the pressure of living up to audience expectations for beloved catalog songs, stating his goal is simply that "my listener and my well-wisher shouldn't be thinking what he has written." Quadri lives in Mumbai with his wife Reena; they have a son, Nayaan, and two daughters, Aabshar and Kaynat.

Biography
## Luis Fonsi: From San Juan to Global Stage
### Early Life and Musical Foundations
Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero was born on April 15, 1978, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the eldest child of Alfonso Rodríguez and Delia López-Cepero. He grew up alongside two younger siblings, Jean Rodríguez — who also pursued a singing career — and Tatiana Rodríguez. As a child, Fonsi idolized the members of Menudo, the famed Puerto Rican boy band, and sang with the San Juan Children's Choir. At age ten, his family relocated to Orlando, Florida, where he attended Westridge Middle School and Dr. Phillips High School. During high school he participated in an a cappella group called "The Big Guys," whose members included future *NSYNC singer Joey Fatone, beginning a lifelong friendship.
Fonsi's vocal talent earned him a full scholarship to Florida State University's School of Music in 1995, where he majored in vocal performance, joined the Florida State University Singers, and performed with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He left university before completing his degree after receiving a recording contract offer from Universal Music Latin Entertainment, a decision that launched his professional career.
### Early Albums and Latin American Breakthrough
Fonsi's debut album "Comenzaré" arrived in 1998, reaching number 11 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart and producing singles such as "Si Tú Quisieras" and "Perdóname." The record established his romantic ballad style across Puerto Rico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, and Venezuela. His 2000 sophomore effort "Eterno" deepened his commercial foothold, and that year he duetted with Christina Aguilera on "Si No Te Hubiera Conocido" for her Spanish-language debut "Mi Reflejo." Fonsi also performed at the Great Jubilee Concert for a Debt-Free World in Rome before Pope John Paul II, and at a White House event honoring victims of the September 11 attacks.
In 2002, Fonsi opened for Britney Spears on her Dream Within a Dream Tour across the United States and Mexico, and released the English-language album "Fight the Feeling" with the single "Secret" featuring Joey Fatone. The 2003 album "Abrazar la vida" brought the number-one Latin hit "¿Quién Te Dijo Eso?" and expanded his audience into Europe. His 2005 release "Paso a Paso" debuted atop the Top Latin Albums chart, driven by the chart-topping single "Nada Es Para Siempre," which earned a Latin Grammy nomination. By the mid-2000s, Fonsi had become a consistent presence on Latin radio and a headlining touring artist.
### Critical Peak with "Palabras del Silencio" and Artistic Expansion
Released in August 2008, "Palabras del Silencio" debuted at number one on Top Latin Albums and marked Fonsi's first entry on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 with "No Me Doy por Vencido," which peaked at number 92 and spent 21 weeks at number one on Hot Latin Songs. The track was later named Billboard's Latin Pop Song of the Decade. The album's second single, "Aquí Estoy Yo" featuring Aleks Syntek, Noel Schajris, and David Bisbal, won Song of the Year at the 10th Latin Grammy Awards in November 2009. That December, Fonsi performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo honoring President Barack Obama.
The 2011 album "Tierra Firme" and 2014's "8" — recorded at Kensaltown Studios and mastered at Abbey Road under producer Martin Terefe — maintained his chart relevance, with "8" debuting at number one in over nine countries and yielding three number-one singles: "Corazón en la Maleta," "Llegaste Tú," and "Que Quieres de Mi." During this period Fonsi joined the coaching panel of The Voice Chile (2015–16), broadening his public profile beyond recording. Billboard named him "Leader of Latin Music's New Generation" in July 2011.
### "Despacito" and Global Crossover
On January 13, 2017, Fonsi released "Despacito" featuring Daddy Yankee. The reggaeton-pop fusion topped charts in nearly 50 countries. An April 2017 remix featuring Justin Bieber propelled the song to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, where it remained for 16 consecutive weeks, tying Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" for the longest reign in the chart's history at that time. The music video became the most-watched in YouTube history, surpassing five billion views by April 2018 and holding the platform's all-time record until November 2020.
At the 18th Latin Grammy Awards in November 2017, "Despacito" won four awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Short Form Music Video, and Best Urban Fusion/Performance (for the Bieber remix). The track also earned five Billboard Music Awards in 2018 — Top Hot 100 Song, Top Streaming Song (Video), Top Selling Song, Top Collaboration, and Top Latin Song — making it the most-awarded Latin song in BBMA history. Three Grammy nominations followed for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Fonsi and Daddy Yankee became the first Puerto Rican artists with a U.K. number-one single since Ricky Martin's "Livin' la Vida Loca" in 1999.
### Post-"Despacito" Career and Recent Work
Capitalizing on the global spotlight, Fonsi released a string of collaborative singles: "Échame la Culpa" with Demi Lovato (November 2017), which won Song of the Year at the 2018 Latin American Music Awards; "Calypso" with Stefflon Don (June 2018); and "Imposible" with Ozuna (October 2018). His tenth studio album "Vida" arrived in February 2019, compiling these hits alongside new material. It debuted at number one on Top Latin Albums and number 18 on the Billboard 200, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Subsequent albums "Ley de Gravedad" (March 2022) and "El Viaje" (May 2024) continued his output, with the latter receiving a 2025 Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. Fonsi has remained active on television, coaching on La Voz U.S. (2019–20, winning the 2019 season with artist Jeidimar Rijos) and La Voz Spain (2019, 2021–24, winning the 2023 season with Elsa Tortonda). In 2024 he voiced the lead in the Dominican animated film "Captain Avispa" and starred in the romantic comedy "Say a Little Prayer." He joined La Voz Kids Spain as a coach in 2026. Touring has remained constant, with the "Love + Dance World Tour" (2017–18), "Vida World Tour" (2019), and "Noche Perfecta Tour" (2022) spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
### Philanthropy and Public Service
Since 2008, Fonsi has served as an ambassador for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, supporting its mission against childhood cancer. The 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards honored him with the Spirit of Hope Award for his humanitarian work. Following Hurricane Maria's devastation of Puerto Rico in September 2017 — the same month the "Despacito" video, filmed in the La Perla neighborhood, brought global attention to the island — Fonsi organized relief efforts delivering generators, water, food, clothing, and medical supplies. He enlisted celebrity friends including Ricky Martin, Chayanne, and Nicky Jam to assist. For these contributions he received the Global Gift Philanthropy Award. Through the Luis Fonsi Foundation, he has funded home construction in La Perla and continues to advocate for Puerto Rico's recovery.

Biography
## From Louisville Basements to the Billboard Summit
### Early Years and the Louisville Scene
Jackman Thomas Harlow was born on March 13, 1998, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Maggie (née Payette), a businesswoman, and Brian Harlow. He spent his early childhood on a horse farm near Shelbyville before the family moved to Louisville's Highlands neighborhood. Harlow has described his upbringing as shaped by his mother's love of hip-hop — she played Eminem, Kanye West's Late Registration, and the Black Eyed Peas in the family minivan — and his father's preference for classic country music, a blend that later informed his melodic approach to rap.
At age 12, Harlow began recording with a Guitar Hero microphone and a laptop alongside his friend Copelan Garvey, burning CDs titled Rippin' and Rappin' to sell at Highland Middle School for $2 each. By seventh grade he had acquired a professional microphone and released his first solo mixtape, Extra Credit, under the moniker Mr. Harlow. He attended Atherton High School, where he played on the varsity soccer team and was voted both Class Clown and Most Talented by his graduating class, choosing the latter because he felt it would "age the best." Throughout high school, Harlow performed sold-out shows at Louisville venues including Mercury Ballroom, Headliners, and Haymarket Whiskey Bar, and opened for Vince Staples in March 2016.
### Independent Grind and the Generation Now Deal
Less than a month after graduating Atherton High School in June 2016, Harlow released the mixtape 18, the inaugural project on his Private Garden collective. The following year brought Gazebo, led by the single "Dark Knight," whose music video went viral on YouTube and caught the attention of DJ Drama and Don Cannon. In 2018, Harlow moved to Atlanta to pursue music full-time, working at a Chick-fil-A in the Georgia State University cafeteria while recording at Means Street Studio. That August, he officially signed to Generation Now, an Atlantic Records imprint.
His major-label debut mixtape, Loose, arrived August 17, 2018, featuring guest verses from CyHi the Prynce, K Camp, and members of his Private Garden collective. A North American tour followed, and Loose earned a Best Mixtape nomination at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards. Later that year, the single "Thru the Night" featuring fellow Louisville native Bryson Tiller preceded the mixtape Confetti, which showcased a smoother, more melodic direction on tracks like "Warsaw" and "Big Chillin." By late 2019, Harlow had graduated from local curiosity to an artist with national industry momentum.
### Breakthrough: "Whats Poppin" and Debut Album
On January 21, 2020, Harlow released "Whats Poppin," produced by JetsonMade and Pooh Beatz. The song's piano-driven beat and Harlow's quotable, conversational verse — referencing fettuccine at Vincenzo's and a catchphrase hook — found immediate traction on TikTok and YouTube before crossing to radio and streaming. The original version peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. In June 2020, a remix featuring DaBaby, Tory Lanez, and Lil Wayne propelled the track to No. 2 on the Hot 100 and earned 7× platinum certification from the RIAA. That summer, Harlow was named to the XXL Freshman Class of 2020.
His debut studio album, Thats What They All Say, released December 11, 2020, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 51,000 album-equivalent units. The record featured Lil Wayne, DaBaby, Big Sean, Lil Baby, Bryson Tiller, and Adam Levine, and included both versions of "Whats Poppin" alongside singles "Tyler Herro" (No. 34 on the Hot 100) and "Way Out" featuring Big Sean. The album received double-platinum certification and earned Harlow his first Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
### Cross-Genre Ascension: "Industry Baby" and "First Class"
Throughout 2021, Harlow focused on high-profile collaborations rather than a solo project. His verse on Lil Nas X's "Industry Baby" — co-produced by Kanye West and Take a Daytrip — became a cultural phenomenon. The track reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2021, giving Harlow his first chart-topper. Its music video, depicting a prison break led by Lil Nas X with Harlow as a charismatic accomplice, surpassed 400 million views. The collaboration earned nominations for Best Melodic Rap Performance and Album of the Year (as a featured artist on Montero) at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Harlow's second album, Come Home the Kids Miss You, arrived May 6, 2022, preceded by the single "Nail Tech" (No. 18 on the Hot 100) and the TikTok-teased "First Class." The latter interpolated Fergie's 2006 hit "Glamorous" and debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100, becoming the 60th song in chart history to enter at the summit and the first hip-hop song of 2022 to reach the top spot. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 113,000 units and featured an all-star roster including Drake, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, and Lil Wayne. Harlow hosted and performed as musical guest on Saturday Night Live in October 2022, cementing his crossover status.
### Artistic Pivot: Jackman. and Acting Debut
In April 2023, Harlow surprise-released his third album, Jackman., announced just two days prior with no promotional singles or guest features. The ten-track project stripped away the radio-friendly production of its predecessor in favor of dense, confessional lyricism addressing fame, identity, and his place in hip-hop as a white rapper from Kentucky. Critics praised the album as his most mature work; it debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The cover art — Harlow shirtless in front of a dilapidated garage near his childhood middle school — became a local pilgrimage site for fans.
That same spring, Harlow made his acting debut as Jeremy in the Hulu remake of White Men Can't Jump, directed by Calmatic, taking on the role originated by Woody Harrelson. He followed this with a supporting role in the Apple TV+ heist thriller The Instigators (2023), starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. In November 2023, the standalone single "Lovin On Me" became his third Hot 100 number-one and first to top the UK Singles Chart. His fourth studio album, Monica, released March 13, 2026, on his 28th birthday, marked a stylistic shift toward late-1990s neo-soul and R&B influences.
### Hometown Roots and Philanthropy
Throughout his ascent, Harlow has maintained a visible connection to Louisville. His lyrics consistently reference local landmarks — Bardstown Road, the Highlands, River Road, Churchill Downs — and he has performed at the Kentucky Derby Festival and Forecastle Festival. In 2023, a massive banner bearing his image was installed on a downtown Louisville warehouse, unveiled at a ceremony attended by city and state officials. Harlow described the moment as surreal, reflecting on his journey from selling mixtapes in school hallways to international recognition.
He established the Jack Harlow Foundation to reinvest in Louisville nonprofits, directing donations to organizations including AMPED, the Center for Women and Families, Grace James Academy, Louisville Urban League, Metro United Way, the Muhammad Ali Center, and Louisville Ballet. In 2024, he performed two "No Place Like Home" concerts with the Louisville Orchestra under Grammy-winning conductor Teddy Abrams, blending his catalog with orchestral arrangements. Harlow has also visited his alma mater, Atherton High School, to speak with students about pursuing creative careers.

The certification recognizes 500,000 units sold and streamed in the United States. He gained national recognition in 2016 as a contestant on season eight of the competition show *The Voice*, where he was a member of Blake Shelton's team and advanced to the Top 10.
