Biography

Alex Warren Biography

Carlsbad, Loss, and a Camera

Raised in Carlsbad, California, Warren began filming YouTube videos around age ten and shifted to Instagram skate clips in his mid-teens. His childhood was marked by upheaval he revisits constantly in song: his father died of kidney cancer when Warren was nine, and after being kicked out of the house at eighteen he slept in friends' cars while trying to launch a career; his mother died in 2021. He has told those stories in interviews with the BBC and Billboard, framing songwriting as the way he processed them.

In 2018, while homeless, he met Kouvr Annon on Snapchat; she moved from Hawaii to California to live with him months later. The couple became engaged on New Year's Eve 2022 and married in Escondido, California, on June 22, 2024, and now reside in Nashville.

The Hype House Years

Warren co-founded the Hype House collective in November 2019 - he suggested the name - just as TikTok stardom was minting new celebrities; the New York Times chronicled the Los Angeles mansion's creator gold rush. He hosted AwesomenessTV's Next Influencer competition, earned a Streamy Award nomination, and starred in Netflix's January 2022 series Hype House, which dramatized anxieties over his fluctuating numbers and staged a fake wedding with Annon.

He left the collective in 2022, saying afterward that there had been a falling out and that he had not been paid for his contributions; the group disbanded later that year, freeing him to chase music full time.

Learning Songwriting in Public

Warren's first releases were raw grief-processing exercises: One More I Love You, built from material he began writing at thirteen about his father's death, arrived independently in June 2021, followed by Screaming Underwater and Remember Me Happy. Atlantic Records signed him in August 2022 and released Headlights that September; subsequent singles such as Give You Love and Change Your Mind refined a folk-pop, faith-tinged style inspired by Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Benson Boone, and David Kushner.

Chapter 1 Finds the Charts

February 2024's Before You Leave Me gave Warren his first UK Singles Chart entry, April's Save You a Seat cracked Billboard's Digital Song Sales at number 11, and May's wedding-song Carry You Home eventually climbed to number nine in Britain. September 2024 brought both Burning Down - his Hot 100 debut, entering at number 76 before peaking at number 69 - and the EP You'll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), with a Joe Jonas remix of Burning Down arriving that December and a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade slot closing out the year.

Ordinary

Released in February 2025, Ordinary accelerated after Warren performed it on the Love Is Blind season-eight reunion, the show's first musical performance, sparking a streaming surge. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for ten non-consecutive weeks, matched that dominance atop the Global 200, and set a Pop Airplay record with fifteen weeks at number one, breaking the 14-week mark set by Ace of Base's The Sign in 1994; Billboard named it the Song of the Summer.

In the United Kingdom it logged 13 non-consecutive weeks at number one, per the Official Charts Company. Critical reception ran cooler than the commercial response, with several reviewers finding the ballad formulaic even as it became the year's defining smash.

Arena Era and Wildchild

You'll Be Alright, Kid, his full debut album, landed on July 18, 2025, ahead of VMA Best New Artist honors and a Best New Artist nomination at the February 2026 Grammys, where he performed Ordinary and recovered mid-song from an in-ear monitor malfunction. Weeks later he collected four trophies at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards - Song of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best New Pop Artist, and Favorite Debut Album - dedicating the breakthrough prize to his late parents.

April 4, 2026 launched his first arena tour across North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, and in June he announced Wildchild, scheduled for August 28, 2026 through Atlantic and preceded by the singles Passenger, Fine Place to Die, Fever Dream, and Rescuer.
