Le célèbre entertainer des Premières Nations Mitch Tambo a publié une réimagination puissante de la chanson révolutionnaire de 2005. BlackfellasCélébrant le 20e anniversaire de l’une des chansons les plus emblématiques de l’histoire du hip-hop des Premières Nations.

La version 2025 de Blackfellas unites trois générations de Blak excellence, mettant en vedette les Street Warriors' Abie Wright — un membre original de Local Knowledge — et le rappeur en montée Jamahl Yami. Avec des vers mis à jour, des productions audacieuses et une narration richement culturelle, la piste rend hommage à la chanson's héritage tout en l'amenant en trombe dans le présent.

Produit par le collaborateur de longue date de Mitch, Rob Amoruso (The Rubens, Macy Gray, Kelly Rowland, Baker Boy), la version 2025 mélange des rythmes contemporains avec l'esprit intransigeant de l'original. La piste sort pendant la Semaine NAIDOC 2025, amplifiant son message de fierté Blak, d'identité et de force.‍

Blackfellas was originally released by Local Knowledge, the pioneering hip-hop group formed in Newcastle by Abie and Wok Wright along with Joel Wenitong. The song was on high rotation on triple j, featured on Live at the Wireless, and was the subject of a SBS documentary. It remains one of the most significant First Nations tracks ever produced in Australia.

“This song still speaks to the struggles and the power of our people,” says Abie Wright. “To revisit it with Mitch and Jamahl—two artists who are shaping the future of Blak music—is something really special.”

Jamahl ajoute, “It’s an honour to work with Mitch and Uncle Abie to make a track for our peoples and to influence the next generation to carry themselves with the strength of their ancestors. This song is a call of unity to all our mob across our nations and across generations to take pride in our culture and ourselves. To have the vision to see a better future and the strength to carry out our mission so that we can leave a legacy and honour the legacy left by our ancestors.”

The release is accompanied by a bold video premiering on YouTube. Blackfellas will be available on all major streaming platforms from Friday 27 June.
