Ciutat Return to Club Roots With 'Fidget Spinner' EP on Primavera Sound!
El duo electrònic de Barcelona CIUTAT està previst que encengui els pisos de dansa arreu del món amb el seu nou EP 'Fidget Spinner', llançat el 25 de juliol a través de l'etiqueta de Primavera Sound.El llançament de quatre pistes marca un retorn triomfant als orígens del seu club, amb una col·laboració de somni amb el llegendari productor francès MYD d'Ed Banger Records al costat de remixes de Yung Prado de Barcelona i Feb28.
The EP's focus track 'I Want To Stay' sees CIUTAT team up with MYD, the acclaimed producer from Ed Banger Records - home to electronic titans Justice, SebAstian, and Breakbot. The collaboration represents a full-circle moment for the Barcelona collective, who have long drawn inspiration from the iconic French label's early 2000s Paris club scene.
"For us, the Fidget Spinner EP is like the fidget spinner itself: an object that might seem useless at first, but takes you straight to a very specific moment and sound," explains CIUTAT. "The two original tracks on the EP are a tribute to fidget house and that electronic revival influenced by Kitsuné, Ed Banger Records, and the whole Paris club scene.”
Després del seu anterior senzill 'Quiero verte bailar' -que presentava un videoclip de música sorprenent filmat totalment amb ulleres de Ray-Ban Meta dins d'un laberint de miralls amb coreografia inspirada en la tectònica - el duo s'endinsa més profundament en les seves influències formatives del club.
"'I Want to Stay' is a track that for many friends represents the beginning of the Mainline scene in Barcelona," the duo reflects. "The song is about the feeling that, when something becomes a song, it never really ends. This I Want to Stay is like wanting to stay there forever.”

CIUTAT (meaning "city" in Catalan) is the collaborative project of JP Sunshine and Guim, two pivotal members of Barcelona's influential Mainline collective. The duo emerged as a vehicle for exploring their pop-oriented instincts while weaving in elements of house, jazz, and nuevo flamenco - a distinctive fusion that has established them as one of Barcelona's most beloved electronic acts.
Their previous releases include the critically acclaimed albums Ciutat l'Amistat (Primavera Labels, 2024) and Brandon(Primavera Labels, 2023), which showcased their ability to blend Barcelona's vibrant cultural landscape with contemporary electronic production.
Mainline opera com un col·lectiu multidisciplinari de Barcelona, organitzant regularment esdeveniments que destaquen a artistes com JP Sunshine i Guim al costat del seu enfocament en la vibrante casa i la música tecno. The 'Fidget Spinner' EP represents CIUTAT's most direct homage to their club origins, drawing inspiration from the labels and sounds that shaped their musical DNA while pointing toward an exciting future for Barcelona's electronic scene.
