The track is an electropop and R&B song featuring strong bass, synthesizers, and Middle Eastern beats, with lyrics about craving physical connection. McRae co-wrote the song with Ryan Tedder, Amy Allen, and Peter Rycroft; Tedder and Rycroft also handled production. In a press release, McRae stated the song "shows a different side of me," adding that it "captures the feeling of falling in love and how sometimes just being close to someone is all you really need." The song was first played for fans at a secret event in Sydney, Australia, on 12 de noviembre de 2024, ahead of its official release.

The certification continues a period of significant commercial success for the Calgary-born singer, compositor, and dancer. McRae, who has amassed over 15.1 billion career streams, rose to prominence with her 5x Platino 2020 single "you broke me first." Her third album, So Close to What, became her first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. McRae's accolades include being named Artist of the Year at the 2024 and 2025 JUNO Awards and being the youngest musician on Forbes' 2021 30 Under 30 list.
