Caryn Dixon Releases “Countricana” EP 'Bird in a Cage'

NASHVILLE, TN – Singer-songwriter Caryn Dixon has released her new EP, Bird in a Cage. The five-track project, which Dixon describes as “Countricana,” blends Americana soul with country storytelling to explore themes of liberation, transformation, and hope. The EP was produced by Gabe Neal and is now available on all streaming platforms.

The project follows a narrative journey across its five songs. The title track, “Bird in a Cage,” details a story of captivity, followed by “Mama,” which captures a moment of clarity and the need to leave. The EP continues with “Arson Song,” an anthem about clearing the past for new growth, and “Sweet Mountain Flower,” a ballad about finding love. It concludes with “Those Days,” a reflection on past pain that ends with a sense of closure and hope.

The EP features songs co-written by Dixon with Nick Gates, Gabe Neal, Dawn Kinnard, Chris Strait, and Doug Forshey. The recording also includes a fiddle performance by Emerald Butler.

Dixon is an advocate for women impacted by domestic violence and emotional manipulation. She recently appeared on The Covert Narcissism Podcast to discuss her personal experiences, which served as inspiration for the EP. She uses her platform to empower others to reclaim their stories.

“My main goal in writing these songs is to inspire people,” Dixon said. “If I can help one person go out and find themselves again, it’s all worth it.”

The release of Bird in a Cage follows Dixon's 2023 debut single, “Print Your Name and Sign,” and the follow-up, “Here I Am,” which landed on major Spotify editorial playlists.
