Corners of Sanctuary Releases Video for Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" Cover on A NAUGHTY & NICE MERRY METAL XMAS XI
Philadelphia-based Traditional Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary (COS) has debuted a powerful new video for their cover of Black Sabbath's iconic 1970 track, "Paranoid." This blistering rendition, featured on the holiday compilation album A NAUGHTY & NICE MERRY METAL XMAS XI, showcases the band’s raw energy and technical prowess while paying tribute to one of the most influential songs in Heavy Metal history.
The video, which artistically depicts the mental breakdown of an individual, amplifies the impact of COS's take on "Paranoid," blending their signature sound with the spirit of a timeless classic. COS delivers a fresh yet reverent spin on the song, capturing the essence of a past era while propelling it into modern times with their galloping beat and driving rhythms.
COS guitarist Mick Michaels shared, "The song is a classic in every sense of the word. Paying homage to it, for us, is like a rite of passage." Vocalist Frankie Cross added, "We've always been huge fans of Black Sabbath, and 'Paranoid' is one of their most timeless tracks. We wanted to put our own spin on it while still respecting the original. We hope our version resonates with both longtime Sabbath fans and new listeners alike."

Their impressive roster of performances includes collaborations with notable figures like Tim "Ripper" Owens, Tracii Guns, Enuff 'Z Nuff, Joey Belladonna (Anthrax), and Damon Johnson.
In 2018, COS unleashed "The Galloping Hordes" on Killer Metal Records (Germany), a remarkable album mastered by the legendary producer Bill Metoyer (Slayer, W.A.S.P., Armored Saint, Fates Warning). That same year, they embarked on a European tour and a subsequent US West Coast tour. The band commenced work on their upcoming album, "Heroes Never Die," scheduled for release in 2020. 2019 witnessed COS supporting Bulletboys, Grim Reaper, Blaze Bayley, Last in Line, Janet Gardner, and the Iron Maidens, and gracing the stage of the iconic Whiskey A Go-Go.
As 2019 drew to a close, COS delighted their fans with three EP releases: "Hold onto Christmas," "Metal Brigade" (on 7"vinyl), and"What We Leave Behind."
