The Neighbourhood Earns RIAA 2x Platinum for "I Love You"

The Neighbourhood's debut studio album, I Love You., has been certified 2x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The certification, dated October 30, 2025, recognizes two million units in the United States. Released on April 23, 2013, via Columbia Records, the album was a foundational work for the California-based rock group.

The Neighbourhood formed in Newbury Park, California, in 2011, establishing a distinct blend of alternative rock and atmospheric pop. The band consists of vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margott, and drummer Brandon Fried. After building momentum with two EPs, I'm Sorry... and Thank You, the group signed with Columbia Records to produce their first full-length project, I Love You.

The album's success was propelled by its third single, "Sweater Weather," which became the band's sole entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 14. The track experienced a significant resurgence in popularity nearly a decade after its release, gaining renewed traction on radio and streaming platforms like Spotify. While "Sweater Weather" remains their signature song, the band has produced several other notable hits, including "Afraid," "Daddy Issues," and "Reflections." A teaser video for the album, directed by Zack Sekuler and Daniel Iglesias Jr., featured the title phrase "I Love You" translated into French, Spanish, Chinese, and Catalan.
