Imogen Heap's second studio album, Speak For Yourself, has officially been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the organization announced on October 15, 2025. The certification recognizes 1,000,000 units in the United States. Originally released on November 1, 2005, the album has demonstrated remarkable longevity, solidifying its place as a landmark work in the dance/electronic genre and a fan favorite, as noted by its inclusion in the "Genius Users Top 50 Favorite Albums of All Time."

A testament to Heap's singular vision, Speak For Yourself was written, produced, arranged, mixed, and funded entirely by the artist, who also designed the cover art. Following her work with Guy Sigsworth in the electronic duo Frou Frou, Heap recorded the album between December 2003 and December 2004, primarily in her London flat. The project was self-released through her own label, Megaphonic Records, without the backing of a major record company. The album features a notable guitar solo from Jeff Beck on "Goodnight and Go" and a spoken-word argument with her ex-boyfriend, Richie Mills, on "The Moment I Said It."

Imogen Heap, an English musician and entrepreneur, is widely regarded as a pioneer in electropop and music technology. After her debut album I Megaphone (1998) sold poorly, she gained wider recognition with Frou Frou, whose song "Let Go" was featured in the 2004 film Garden State. The release of Speak For Yourself marked a significant turning point in her solo career. Its lead single, "Hide and Seek," garnered international success after being featured in a pivotal scene of the Fox television series The O.C. The album's influence has continued into the digital era, with the track "Headlock" going viral on TikTok in 2024. This resurgence propelled the song to become Heap's first-ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2025, nearly two decades after its initial release.
