"Hallelujah" was released on September 25, 2020, as a featured track on Underwood's first full-length Christmas album, My Gift. The original song, co-written by Legend, brought together the two powerhouse vocalists for a festive duet that blends the country and holiday genres. The album marked Underwood's first foray into a dedicated holiday collection.

Underwood rose to international fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. She has since become one of the most successful and decorated artists in country music, known for her powerful vocals and a long string of hit singles. This Gold certification for "Hallelujah" adds another milestone to her extensive catalog of RIAA awards.
