A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Bryson Tiller (born Bryson Vernard Tiller on January 2, 1993) first gained mainstream recognition with his 2015 single "Don't." The song peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been certified septuple Platinum. Its success led to a record deal with RCA and the release of his debut studio album, Trapsoul (2015), which reached the top ten of the Billboard 200 and was certified triple Platinum. His subsequent albums have continued to perform well, with True to Self (2017) debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, Anniversary (2020) peaking at number five, and his self-titled 2024 album spawning the Hot 100 top-20 single "Whatever She Wants." Tiller was also a featured artist alongside Rihanna on DJ Khaled's 2017 single "Wild Thoughts," which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
