Gelo Earns RIAA Platinum for "Tweaker"

Gelo's breakout single "Tweaker" has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The certification, dated November 17, 2025, recognizes 1,000,000 certified units in the United States. The R&B/Hip-Hop track was released by Def Jam Recordings.

Released on January 3, 2025, "Tweaker" quickly gained momentum before it was even officially available. A snippet of the song, previewed by Gelo during a livestream with streamer N3on, went viral almost instantly, with many fans comparing its sound to 2000s-era Southern hip-hop. The track's popularity was further amplified by a remix featuring a verse from Lil Wayne, which was released in February 2025. According to Genius, the song is the lead single from Gelo's album, League of My Own, and its page has amassed approximately 817,945 views.

Gelo, born LiAngelo Ball, transitioned to a music career after a notable tenure in professional basketball. He first gained national attention playing alongside his brothers, current NBA guards Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, at Chino Hills High School, where they won a state championship. His basketball journey included a commitment to UCLA, professional stints in Lithuania, the Junior Basketball Association (JBA), and the NBA G League with the Greensboro Swarm, as well as a brief contract with the Detroit Pistons. Following the international chart success of "Tweaker," Ball signed a multi-million dollar record deal with Def Jam and officially confirmed his retirement from basketball in August 2025.
