Bruno Mars Earns RIAA 10x Platinum for "The Lazy Song"

Bruno Mars' single "The Lazy Song" has achieved a significant sales milestone, earning a 10x Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on October 17, 2025. The certification, which is equivalent to the Diamond award, recognizes 10,000,000 certified units in the United States. Originally released on October 5, 2010, as part of Mars' debut studio album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, "The Lazy Song" was later serviced to contemporary hit radio as the album's third single on February 15, 2011. The song's development began when Mars and his production partners in The Smeezingtons, Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine, were in the studio and did not feel like working. They co-wrote the track, an anthem to laziness, with rapper K'naan. Musically, the song borrows heavily from roots reggae and saw significant global success, reaching number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and topping the charts in Denmark and the United Kingdom. It became one of the best-selling digital singles of 2011 and has also earned multi-platinum certifications in Australia and Canada.
