Biography

## From freestyle battles to Spanish number ones

### Early life and move to Gran Canaria

Pedro Luis Domínguez Quevedo was born in Madrid on 7 December 2001. His family moved to Brazil when he was a baby, and he lived there until about the age of four or five before the household returned to Spain and settled in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He has kept Las Palmas as his base for most of his life, and the city and the wider Canary Islands recur throughout his music and public image.

In Las Palmas he attends the San Antonio María Claret school and later enrols in a business administration and management course at university. He eventually leaves the degree behind to concentrate fully on music rather than a conventional professional path, committing himself to songwriting and recording from his early twenties.

### Freestyle roots and first recordings (2020–2021)

Quevedo's first musical identity forms in freestyle rap, the competitive spoken-word circuit that has launched other Spanish urban artists. Around 2020 he begins releasing songs in partnership with the producer Linton, moving from battle-rap cadence toward sung and melodic trap phrasing over polished, keyboard-driven beats.

The single «Ahora y siempre» (2021), made with Linton, becomes an early breakthrough: it reaches number 19 on Spotify's global viral playlist and number two on the equivalent chart in Spain. Those placements, together with collaborations such as «Piel de cordero» with La Pantera, give Quevedo a stable audience in Spain before any international attention arrives.

### Canarian momentum and the Bizarrap session (2022)

In early 2022 the remix of «Cayó la noche», performed with La Pantera, Juseph, Cruz Cafuné, Abhir Hathi and Bejo, becomes an anthem of the Canary Islands scene and climbs to number one in Spain. Quevedo's collaborations widen during the same year: «Fernet» with the Argentine singer Rei, and a feature on the remix of Ed Sheeran's «2step», place his voice alongside very different fanbases.

The decisive moment arrives on 6 July 2022, when the Argentine producer Bizarrap releases «Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52», known to most listeners as «Quédate». More than five million YouTube views accumulate in its first twelve hours, and the video sits at the top of YouTube's Spanish trending list within a day, a launch documented by elDiario.

On streaming platforms the session rewrites Spanish records. Contemporary reporting in Jenesaispop notes a single-day Spotify Spain total of about 2.58 million streams, well above the previous national benchmark, and the track climbs to number one on Spotify's global chart, where press accounts describe Quevedo as the first Spanish artist to hold that position. The song remains his international calling card.

### Donde Quiero Estar and the awards run (2023)

Quevedo's debut album, Donde Quiero Estar, appears on 20 January 2023 through Taste the Floor. The title refers both to a state of mind and to the sound he wants to inhabit, and the record gathers contributions from Myke Towers, Cruz Cafuné, Omar Montes and others. It enters the Spanish albums chart at number one.

Previews such as «Sin señal» with Ovy On The Drums, «Vista al mar», «Punto G» and «Playa del inglés» with Myke Towers keep the album in motion through the year. In July 2023 he releases «Columbia», a track he had teased at Ibai Llanos's La Velada del Año; it becomes one of his biggest hits and a staple of Spanish summer playlists.

Recognition follows quickly. In November 2023, at his first Latin Grammy nomination, Quevedo and Bizarrap take Best Urban Song for the Session 52 recording, as LOS40 reports from the ceremony. Earlier in 2023 the same song had already collected three Premios Odeón — song of the year, music video of the year and best urban song — while the «Cayó la noche» remix won in its own category.

Spain's new Academia de la Música awards him two prizes in June 2024 for work from the debut cycle: best urban music album for Donde Quiero Estar and best urban song for «Columbia», alongside a nomination as artist of the year. LOS40 also names him best urban artist at its 2023 awards.

### Pause, return and Buenas noches (2024–2025)

On 1 February 2024 Quevedo releases «La última». His label describes the single as the closing of the era that began with the debut album, and Europa Press reports that a temporary pause in his career will follow so that he can rest and prepare what comes next. The video assembles seventeen fellow artists around a shared visual motif.

During the break he quietly puts out the track «7» in July 2024 under the pseudonym Peter Lewis, an English rendering of Pedro Luis, and reveals the ruse months later in an interview. He returns properly on 28 October 2024 with «Duro», which reaches number one in Spain, and follows it on 22 November with his second album, Buenas noches, released through DQE and Rimas.

Buenas noches occupies the top twelve positions of Spain's singles chart upon release, according to the Spanish press account preserved on Wikipedia, and the album is later certified multi-platinum in Spain. At the Premios Odeón in February 2025 it is named best urban album. Throughout 2025 Quevedo tours as the Buenas Noches Tour and continues his habit of releasing a major single on 7 July, this time «Tuchat».

### El Baifo and the present (2026)

Quevedo enters 2026 with a run of Spanish number-one singles, including «Ni Borracho», «Scandic» and «La Graciosa» with Elvis Crespo, the last of which also charts in Argentina. On 24 April 2026 he releases El Baifo, his third studio album, through DQE and Rimas; the record reaches number one in Spain and is listed by Promusicae among the year's certified releases.

His official site currently presents the album campaign under the slogan «El Baifo Está en Casa», and Spanish Wikipedia lists a companion El Baifo Tour dated to 2027. Quevedo remains based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and continues to write, record and perform as one of the defining Spanish urban voices of his decade.
