Canadian singer, songwriter, and dancer Tate Mcrae continues her ascent to pop superstardom, earning numerous accolades including Artist of the Year at the 2024 and 2025 JUNO Awards. The Calgary native has garnered over 15.1 billion career streams, building on the success of her 5x Platinum single "you broke me first" and the 4x Platinum hit "greedy." Her sophomore album, *THINK LATER* (2023), debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, solidifying her position as a major force in contemporary music.

Released on February 21, 2025, through RCA Records, *So Close To What* is McRae's third studio album. The record explores a blend of pop, dance-pop power pop, and R&B sounds. McRae co-wrote the album with a team of high-profile collaborators, including producers Ryan Tedder, Blake Slatkin, Lostboy, Emile Haynie, Ilya, and Rob Bisel. The project was introduced by the singles "It's OK I'm OK," "2 Hands," and "Sports Car," with the track "Revolving Door" released alongside the full album. The album also features guest appearances from Alissa McRae and Zoey Tate.
