In a candid conversation with Vogue in April 2021, [Gomez](https://www.popfiltr.com/artist-profile/selena-gomez) opened up about her struggles in the music industry and the possibility of retiring from music. She expressed her frustration, saying, “It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’” Despite these challenges, she acknowledged the support of her fans and expressed a desire to try something different with her next album, potentially considering it her last foray into music. However, in a later interview with Vogue Australia in June 2021, [Gomez](https://www.popfiltr.com/artist-profile/selena-gomez) seemed to have a renewed perspective on her musical career. She reflected, “I think my life has been dominated by music. And I don’t mind it whatsoever, I’m so grateful. I’ll always probably make music, even if it’s just for me, and that’s something I’ll cherish.” She also hinted at more music in the works, mentioning a studio visit post-interview. [Gomez](https://www.popfiltr.com/artist-profile/selena-gomez)'s approach to her music, especially evident in "Revelación," has been about stepping out of her comfort zone and respecting her audience and heritage. She shared with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, “It is something that needed to be precise and needed to be respected by the audience I’m going to release this for. Of course, I want everyone to enjoy the music, but I am targeting my fan base. I’m targeting my heritage, and I couldn’t be more excited.” Although [Selena](https://www.popfiltr.com/artist-profile/selena-gomez) is engaged in various projects, such as the Hulu series "Only Murders in the Building," her primary focus at present is unmistakably on her music. As fans eagerly await more details, [Gomez](https://www.popfiltr.com/artist-profile/selena-gomez) continues to work on her album, promising a blend of personal reflection and artistic growth.
