The RIAA has officially certified 24Kgoldn's album *Dropped Outta College* as Gold, recognizing 500,000 units in the United States. The certification for the Records/Columbia release was awarded on October 21, 2025. The project, categorized by the RIAA under the R&B/Hip-Hop genre, was first released on November 20, 2019.

Born Golden Landis Von Jones in San Francisco, 24Kgoldn first gained significant recognition with his 2019 single "Valentino." The track became his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and was eventually certified double-platinum leading to his signing with Barry Weiss' Records, an imprint of Columbia Records. He achieved even greater success with his 2020 follow-up single, "Mood" featuring Iann Dior, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a global hit. His debut studio album, *El Dorado*, followed in 2021 to moderate commercial reception.

The album *Dropped Outta College* serves as a thematic statement from the artist. Its title is a direct response to criticism he received for his decision to leave the University of Southern California to fully pursue his music career. The project's success was bolstered by the inclusion of his breakout hit "Valentino," which introduced his melodic rap style to a mainstream audience and laid the groundwork for his subsequent chart-topping success.
